Thoughts On “Foxglove Summer” by Ben Aaronovitch

175 words or less, thoughts and feelings that I had after reading the book

This one got me back into the series. I was a bit underwhelmed with Broken Homes. Things just didn’t click with me while I was reading. Foxglove Summer does everything I wish Broken Homes did. It has a clear case that Peter follows throughout the books. With having some knowledge of Fae stories and adventures, I kept trying to guess which creature Peter would be facing. We also see relationships grow; we see more interesting parts of the magical world. It still touches the bigger overarching series plot and the ending of Broken Homes in a way that didn’t take away from the main case of the book. There is still some complexity with the descriptions of UK country side that had me scratching my head, but I was able to parse it a lot easier than in Broken Homes. Foxglove Summer felt like a great return to a procedural detective show.
