175 words or less, thoughts and feelings that I had after reading the book
“Have I found my book of the year?” The first question I had as soon as I finished reading this book. This fantasy romance between a human and minotaur-like creature was hard to put down. It helps I’m a sucker for the entrance arc in animes, the one a group of different characters have to learn how to work as a team in order to pass a exam. While it focuses mainly on the main relationship between the two central character, you also get to know some memorable and lovable side characters. I wanted to see more of them. I could easily imagine this fantasy city and it’s feudal inspirations. The writing was easy to digest and kept me hook. In my journey through smut books, I’ve notice books tend to ramp up the action at 70% to close it out. Here it’s felt the most natural plot progression. Everything felt like it made sense and paced well. All of this has made the book one of my favorites of 2025
