175 words or less, thoughts and feelings that I had after reading the book
An ok delve into a Lovecraftian modern day pulp story held back by it’s characters. It starts strong, though falters throughout, with dialogue that feels unnatural at times unassisted by one of the characters being borderline unlikeable. Not to the point where I wanted him to be remove, though I never found myself rooting for his success. When there’s high action, the writing brings the scenes to life, it’s the slow moments that need to be reworked. I did enjoy the adventure that was told, though despite the title, it felt as if the mall wasn’t as important as it could have been. I also loved the main character of Laura. there is some interesting relationship dynamic between Ted and Laura that I wish was better explored.
